Block unknown numbers on your Android phone

Without a doubt, one of the most annoying things in the modern world is a spam phone call. All day we’re battling spam emails at work and in our personal web clients, and now we’re tussling with spam telephone calls – by the dozen.

Android smartphone users get on average 12 phone calls a day, and 75% of them are usually spam. There’s nothing more annoying or disruptive than your phone going off only to find it’s a spammer looking to sell you some service you don’t need, or worse, just calling and hanging up to check your number is active so they can spam you again in the future.

Android has in-built measures to block unknown numbers, and it only takes a couple of taps to do so. Android also allows you to block individual numbers, so you can prevent known nuisance numbers too. Follow the steps below to block spammy calls forever!

How to block unknown calls on your Android

1. Tap the phone icon on your Android, which is usually at the bottom of the home screen.

2. Tap the three dots at the top of the Phone app screen.

3. Tap “Settings” in the dropdown menu.

4. Tap “Block numbers” and then toggle the button beside “Block unknown callers” to green. This action will now block all unknown numbers, hurrah!

You’ll also notice under this option you can ‘Add phone number‘. Use this free feature to add individual numbers which have spammed you in the past. I add a number every time I get spammed, it’s a little bit of admin but since keeping on top of this, I’m getting very few spammy calls at all.
